What are satellite landscape speakers?
Outdoor satellite speakers are fully enclosed and feature a spike for planting directly into the ground, making them perfect for gardens and the edges of your landscape. Durability Considerations:
Satellite speakers can occasionally break off from their stakes due to improper torque during installation, accidental bumps from landscapers, or rigid ground conditions. For best results, plant them in softer, grassy, or dirt areas where they have some flexibility. Rockier soil can make them less forgiving if they’re struck or disturbed.
Powering Your Speakers:
These speakers work with either a regular amplifier or a 70-volt amplifier system:
Traditional Amplifier Setup: Run individual wires from your amplifier or receiver to each speaker.
70-Volt System: This system requires only a single wire loop connecting each speaker. While efficient for larger setups, 70-volt wires carry higher voltage, so handle them carefully to avoid minor shocks.
To protect your wiring and ensure a clean installation, trench PVC pipe to each speaker location and to the entry point of your home. Burying wires in PVC not only prevents damage but also simplifies future upgrades or additions, such as outdoor Wi-Fi or TV cables.
Proper Wiring for Optimal Sound:
For the best audio quality, ensure the polarity of the wires is correctly connected (positive to positive, negative to negative). Incorrect wiring can lead to poor bass, distortion, and an overall lack of sound clarity.

How to choose and care for your outdoor satellite speakers:
Outdoor satellite speakers are like indoor speakers with the ability to be camouflaged throughout your landscape and are of course weatherproof. Because they are completely enclosed the mid driver and tweeter are properly tuned to the enclosure for maximum performance. We recommend bringing them in during the harsher months, but these speakers are design to be left outside all year round. If you decide to store your speakers you can easily pull them out of the ground, just make sure you label the speaker wires before disconnecting. You can also cap the outdoor speaker wires (separately) if they will be exposed to the elements. Although these speakers are weatherproof you will still want to protect them as much as possible. Pointing the speakers down or keeping them under thick brush (not blocking the speaker) will keep direct sunlight off the speaker surface and rubber surround. The sun can dry these components out over time depending on how long they are exposed. Water can also enter or collect on different parts of the speaker which can also be avoided when aimed down or covered during installation. You should also do some research and make sure the brand you are purchasing come from a reputable manufacturer.
What size outdoor satellite speaker do I need?
Satellite outdoor speakers come in many different sizes. Larger speakers with a 6” driver will deliver better lower frequencies giving your outdoor sound much more emotion and depth. Satellite speakers are also available in 2.5”, 3”, 4” and 5” speakers . When planning on outdoor speaker location you will want to place them evenly to obtain a uniform sound field. We have all been somewhere, where the speakers were to loud in one location and too low in another. To have optimal sound around an area you should space the spears 1 foot apart for every inch of the speaker. So, if you have a 6” speaker they will approximately cover a 6 foot area, your next speaker would then be mounted approximately 12 feet away (6 feet around each speaker). Because outdoor speakers are completely enclosed, they are a directional speaker. Directional meaning whichever way point them will be the direction the sound travels.
